Hobohome the Motorhome - Overview

Gavin and Tracey

If this is your first visit to Hobohome.com - welcome. Let us introduce ourselves - we are Gavin & Tracey Murray. We live and travel Australia in a large converted Bedford bus called Hobohome. In February of 2003 we decided that we had had enough of the ordinary - we wanted some adventure in our lives. So we have decided to put our careers on hold, brought a 38 foot bus and took to the road with no preconceived ideas about where we would travel or for how long.
We have been adventuring around Australia since then.

Here is a list of the questions we are most commonly asked:

Firstly we live very economically - we do not spend up large on unnecessary things, we don't eat out much and we explore slowly. You would be very surprised how little it costs to live on the road (with a good setup and proper planning). The motorhome has been setup to be self-sufficient, we can happily stay away from civilization, water and power for 2 - 3 weeks at a time - so we almost never spend money on camping grounds.   Secondly, we do work. We run a small web based business (see www.imageworkx.com ).

The weather plays a big part in deciding where we go. Australia is huge - and we want to see it all. However there are good times and bad times to visit most places. We have no really effective heating in the motorhome and no air conditioning. This means we have to follow the good weather. This can be tricky, but we have good climatic information and great maps.

No, not alt all. We meet so many great people on out travels. We also are able to accommodate friends and family who come and stay with us from time to time.

That never seems to be a problem - we always have one project or another on the go. The motorhome takes quite a bit of time to look after and maintain. We both enjoy photography and improving our skills in this area. Trust me, we never get bored.

Some hints for using and viewing the site...

Due to the number of photos some pages are quite large. If you have slow connection please be patient. While you wait think about how long it must have taken us to upload the pages via a mobile phone at 9600bps or less.

Almost all photos have a larger version available - just click on the photo to see the big version (it will open up a new window, just close the new window to continue browsing the site).

If you have any ideas, suggestion, questions or corrections please email us.
